Terms & Conditions for Mixing, Mastering & Dolby Atmos

Plain-language overview of how projects are quoted, scheduled, delivered, and paid. Booking a project, sending files, or paying an invoice indicates acceptance of these terms.

1) Scope & Quotes

  • Quotes cover the agreed mixing and mastering services (stereo and/or Dolby Atmos) based on track count, length, complexity, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Changes to scope (extra stems, edits, alternate versions, additional revisions, rush) may require a new quote or change order.

2) Booking, Deposit & Payment

  • Deposit: A non-refundable deposit (typically 50%) is required to reserve time. Work begins after the deposit is received.
  • Balance: Remaining balance is due before final delivery of masters and/or ADM files unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Late payment: Past-due invoices may incur the lesser of 1.5% per month or the maximum allowed by law, plus collection costs.

3) Files & Preparation

  • Client agrees to follow the mix prep guide for how to prepare stems for mixing (format, sample rate/bit depth, consolidated timing, naming).
  • Corrupt, missing, or incorrectly prepared files that require remediation may be billed at the current hourly rate.

4) Revisions

  • Revisions included per package are listed on the rates page or in your quote.
  • Additional revisions are billed per revision or hourly. “New direction” requests outside the initial scope may be quoted separately.

5) Timelines & Scheduling

  • Turnarounds shown on rates are estimates and assume timely receipt of complete, approved materials.
  • Rush service may be available at a surcharge; availability is not guaranteed until confirmed in writing.

6) Approvals & Deliverables

  • First pass is delivered for review. Final approval triggers preparation of final files.
  • Final deliverables are listed on deliverables (e.g., Stereo WAV master, ADM BWF for Atmos). Optional items are by request.
  • Delivery is via download link. Links remain active for at least 7 days — please download and back up promptly.

7) Dolby Atmos Notes

  • ADM BWF files are prepared to industry specs for platforms supporting Atmos (e.g., Apple Music, TIDAL).
  • Platform acceptance, loudness normalization, and editorial choices are controlled by the distributor/platform, not the studio.
  • Binaural characteristics vary by device and renderer settings.

8) Stems, Sessions & Archiving

  • Mixed stems, consolidated multitracks, or DAW sessions can be provided when feasible (see deliverables or your quote for pricing).
  • Project assets are archived for 12 months from final delivery. Long-term storage is not guaranteed; please keep your own backups.

9) Credits & Portfolio

  • Unless requested otherwise in writing, credit should read: Mixing/Mastering by Alex Solano (AlexProMix).
  • Non-confidential excerpts (audio or screenshots) may be referenced after public release. Confidential work remains confidential upon written request.

10) Ownership & Licenses

  • Client retains rights to the underlying compositions and sound recordings.
  • Engineer retains rights to mix templates, custom presets, and proprietary workflows.
  • Upon full payment, Client receives a license to use the deliverables for commercial release and promotion without additional fees.

11) Cancellations & Refunds

  • Deposits are non-refundable and secure time allocated to the project.
  • If Client cancels after work begins, a reasonable kill fee may apply for time spent and costs incurred.
  • If the studio must cancel for reasons other than Client breach, unused deposit will be refunded or credited at Client’s choice.

12) Warranties, Liability & Force Majeure

  • Services are provided professionally and to industry standards. No guarantee is made regarding commercial performance or third-party approvals.
  • Liability is limited to the amount paid for the specific services at issue.
  • Neither party is liable for delays due to events beyond reasonable control (e.g., power outages, illness, natural disasters, platform outages).

13) Governing Law & Disputes

  • These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
  • Both parties agree to attempt good-faith resolution within 30 days before filing a claim. Venue: Los Angeles County, California.
