Mix Prep
To get the best results from your mix session, please follow the file prep guidelines below. Clear, organized files help keep the workflow smooth and turnaround fast.
General Guidelines
- All files should be exported as 24-bit WAV at the project’s native sample rate (44.1kHz, 48kHz, or 96kHz).
- Start all tracks from the same time (usually bar 1) to keep everything in sync.
- Include a rough mix (WAV or MP3) to help communicate your creative direction.
- Use clear file names:
LeadVox.wav
,BGV_L.wav
,Kick.wav
, etc. - When providing DAW Sessions, clean out unused tracks, clips, and plugins. Only send what you want included in the mix.
Stereo Mixing Requirements
This applies to traditional stereo mix sessions:
- Send instrument tracks with printed effects and vocal tracks dry depending on your production mix.
- Group stacks if they’re intended to be blended (e.g., backing vocals, double-tracked guitars).
- Make note of any special instructions: vocal tuning, creative effects, etc.
- Provide song tempo and key.
Dolby Atmos Mixing Requirements
Spatial mixing mirrors the stereo master. These extras help ensure accuracy and translation:
- Include stereo master.
- Send any creative effects as audio prints (reverb throws, long delays, etc.).
- If possible, send a Pro Tools session or clearly labeled multitrack WAVs.
